Introduction
I was invited to try a 5 day trial of Holosync nearly 2 years ago.
I was initially dubious about the idea of listening to binaural sounds to help me with meditation. Being someone who has practised for nearly two decades, I was sceptical as to how Holosync could actually benefit me.
Despite this, my curiosity was piqued so I signed up for the trial.
After 5 days I was blown away by the results and decided to purchase the first level, Awakening Prologue.
Being a recovering alcoholic I am always on the lookout for anything that will help me better manage my internal world and strengthen my recovery.
Given the noticeable impact the meditation had just by doing the trial, Holosync seemed like a no-brainer.
What is Holosync?
Holosync is a meditation system from Centerpointe, created by founder Bill Harris. Harris was inspired by research conducted by Dr. Gerald Oster and the Menninger Clinic, which explored the effects of different sound frequencies on brainwave patterns.
Holosync’s audio technology combines soothing sounds with brainwave stimulation to induce deep meditative states. Essentially, it involves listening to binaural sounds that are designed to lower brain wave frequency from alpha, to beta and lower.
Holosync manipulates brainwave patterns through entrainment, which is a process of influencing certain brainwave frequencies associated with specific mental states such as relaxation, focus, deep sleep etc.
Standard mediation when practised over time naturally lowers brainwave frequency. Our brains generally operate in the alpha range. Normal meditation practice tends to lower brainwave frequency to low alpha and into beta.
Holosync is like ‘done for you’ meditation. It is the sounds that help bring about the desired lower frequencies associated with a calm mind, rather than the meditator needing to focus on their breath or a mantra.
How Holosync works
Holosync utilises binaural sounds, which are two slightly different frequencies played simultaneously to each ear, to create a third frequency inside the brain.
This third frequency corresponds to the desired brainwave pattern, such as alpha, theta, or delta waves.
When individuals listen to Holosync soundtracks with stereo headphones, their brainwaves begin to synchronise with the frequencies embedded in the audio. This synchronisation leads to a shift in consciousness, inducing a deep meditative state and facilitating profound changes in the brain’s structure and function.
By consistently using Holosync, individuals can train their brain to enter these deep states of relaxation and heightened awareness more easily, leading to a range of benefits, including stress reduction, improved mental health, and enhanced well-being.
How the Program Works
The Holosync program is divided into 3 different levels which are then subdivided into sub-levels:
- Awakening Levels 1-4
- Purification Levels 1-4
- Flowering Levels 1-4
As you progress through each level (which lasts between 3-6 months) lower frequency brainwaves are induced by the audio technology, leading to increased levels of calmness and focus.
Holosync is a commitment. It takes an hour and I practise it each day. The beauty about Holosync is that you can listen to it before bed or when you wake up in the morning and it still works even if you happen to fall asleep. However they do advise that the best way to listen is when awake with your eyes closed.
My experience with Holosync
I’ve experienced positive and profound changes using Holosync.
- More calm. Holosync expands your threshold for stress. I am finding that I can handle more stress without feeling overwhelmed.
- Less anxious. I have always suffered from anxiety. This has significantly reduced since starting Holosync. Situations that used to make me anxious no longer do. It feels like my internal world has fundamentally changed for the better.
- More compassionate. This has been an unexpected impact for me. Compassion has never been something that has come naturally to me.
- Improved mental clarity. This has massively improved during the past 18 months since embarking on the program. I am more able to focus on a task without getting distracted by imposing thoughts.
- Less mental fatigue. Better focus without unnecessary distracting thoughts means less mental fatigue by default.
- Less angry. Anger and irritability has been a problem for me in the past. This is significantly reduced. What once made me feel irritable no longer does.
I feel that I am getting to understand myself better than ever before. One of the main benefits of Holosync is an expanded awareness. It enables you to access parts of your subconscious that are normally out of reach.
Holosync gives you insight into unseen emotional triggers that cause you to act or think in a particular way due to unconscious conditioned beliefs held during an entire lifetime.
The further I progress with Holosync, the more I am amazed. I am able to be the observer of my thoughts rather than caught up in the turbulent wake of my mind. This helps me to be more considered in my day to day life, rather than reactive.
The truth is turbulent
Holosync is a powerful meditation tool. There is no doubt about that. It has given me access to parts of my subconscious that were previously unreachable. It has revealed truths about myself that have been hidden for decades.
As such, it has brought about some uncomfortable feelings from time to time. These unpleasant effects generally occur when I progress to a new level. They have only lasted a few days before they pass, but when they do occur, it feels that I’ve regressed to how I was 10 or 20 years previously.
The truth is turbulent. The subconscious records everything, the good, the bad and the ugly. So having greater awareness of this part of your mind can feel uncomfortable at times.
But the benefit of greater awareness is that it creates choice. People often react in ways that don’t serve them due to a lack of awareness.
For me, this was often anger. Sometimes I would just be angry and not be 100% clear on what the anger was truly about. Sure there was a trigger, but beyond the trigger there was a deeper issue, hidden in my psyche, that was the true cause of my anger.
With Holosync, I have been able to understand some of the root causes of my anger. And because I have accessed this insight, I am able to react in a more constructive manner.
